The following cases were heard at Worcester Magistrates Court recently.

 

ALAN BISHOP, 72, of Ranelagh Road, Malvern, admitted two charges of assault by beating of an emergency worker, being drunk and disorderly in a public place and failing to surrender to police/court bail at the appointed time.

Bishop committed the assaults and drunk and disorderly offence on May 18 in Malvern and failed to attend court on August 15. 

Bishop was given a one-year community order with a requirement to complete 15 rehabilitation activity requirement days.

Bishop was fined £120 and ordered to pay £100 compensation before December 14. 

 

DEAN TAYLOR, of Woodmans Way, Droitwich, admitted assault by beating. 

Taylor committed the offence in Droitwich on April 30. 

The 55-year-old was fined £460 and ordered to pay £50 compensation, costs of £135 and victim surcharge of £184. 

Taylor was ordered to pay the total of £829 before December 15. 

 

JIMMY JOHNSON, of Evesham Road, Cleeve Prior, Evesham, denied possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place. 

The prosecution alleges the 20-year-old committed the offence in Broadway Road, Evesham, on August 8 - Johnson accused of having a folding pocket knife which had a blade the cutting edge of which exceeded 7.62 centimetres (3 inches).

Johnson, who was given unconditional bail, was told to attend his trial on February 8 next year.

 

TEGAN DOWNES, of Sherrards Green Road, Malvern, admitted theft from a shop.

The 26-year-old committed the offence on July 14 in Malvern. 

Downes stole meet and cheese, valued at £81.95 from a Co-op shop.

The defendant was given a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £40.98 compensation to the shop.

Co-defendant MATTHEW LAWRENCE, of Summer Park Avenue, Malvern, was sentenced for the same charge of theft from a shop. 

The 34-year-old also committed the offence on July 14.

Lawrence was also given a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £40.98 compensation.

There was no order for costs or victim surcharge in either case.

 

JAYNE EMERY, of Riverview Close, Worcester, admitted being the owner/person in charge of dogs dangerously out of control causing injury.

The 59-year-old committed the offence on June 23 being the owner of a Staffordshire bull dog and a Jack Russell which were dangerously out of control on a footpath near to the River Severn injuring a victim. 

Emery was fined £169 and ordered to pay £394.12 compensation. 

Rosie, the Staffordshire bull dog, and Tubbs, the Jack Russell, were placed under an order to be kept under control by means of muzzling.
