Singing sensation Peter Andre is set to bring the festive cheer to Redditch this weekend at the Christmas light switch-on event.

The famous face is ready to kickstart festivities on Saturday, November 25 with his signature charm and musical hits.

Residents can look forward to a captivating performance from the singer who will also help in hosting the action-packed evening.

Manager at Redditch BID, Muj Rahman, said: “I’m so excited but also really nervous as we have gone all out this year as we wanted to aim high. We have good contacts at the BID and managed to reach out to Peter’s agency who were happy to arrange for him to visit us.

“It can be scary approaching big names, but they are available for these kinds of community events. It’s all about putting ourselves out there, networking and getting Redditch on the map. We even managed to secure Lemar for the Business Awards.

“Redditch is in such a fantastic location as it isn’t far from other major towns and cities. Events like this are huge for us as we want to help attract people into the town. We don’t want residents to go out to Birmingham, we want them to come into Redditch.”

Visitors can also look forward to performances from local artists, festive music, food vendors organised by CJs Events and family-friendly activities.

The event will start at 12pm in the town centre with guests having the chance to meet Peter Andre at the Kingfisher Shopping Centre between 3pm and 4pm.

This will be followed by the Festival of Light parade by Redditch Carnival from 4.45pm and the switch-on at 5.30pm on Market Place.

The Christmas Extravaganza show will kick off at 6pm in front of the Post Office.
