THERE was a slight drop in crime in the city new figures revealed.

The latest data, which reveals the types of crime reported as well as their location, shows there were 1,113 crimes reported across Worcester in September.

That is the latest month of data released by the force and is down on the month before when there were 1,158 crimes in August - the most crime-hit month of the year.

In further comparison in July there were 1,115 crimes, in June there were 1,025 crimes; in May 1,069; 1,050 in April, 998 in March, 1,008 in February and 1,147 in January. 

 

The most common crime type in September was violence and sexual assault which accounted for 335 of the crimes.

The second most common type that month was anti-social behaviour with 203 crimes.

And the third most common type in September was criminal damage and arson when there were 99 crimes. 

In comparison to the month prior, in August, the most common type of crime had been violence and sexual assault with 361 crimes. 

Second most common crime type was anti-social behaviour with 225 crimes, while the third most prevalent crime type that month was shoplifting with 144 crimes. 

In September there were 63 burglaries reported including in Bilford Road, Bridgnorth Row and Northcote Street. 

There were six robberies including ones in Ennerdale Close, Comer Road and Stock Coppice Close. 

There were six reports of possession of weapons offences taking place in Bush Walk, Grasmere Drive and Carrock Fell. 

And there were 28 reports of drugs offences. Among the reports were ones in Penbury Street, Newark Green and Elm Road.

There were public order and drug offencaes reported at the parking area of Worcester Shrub Hill; shoplifting and anti-social behaviour was reported at the Aldi in Pheasant Street, and a report of anti-social behaviour was made at St Martins Gate car park in the city centre.
