A GREAT-grandmother got her birthday wish after being surprised with her very own ‘buff butler’ as she turned 101.

Winnie Goode, who lives at Summerdyne Nursing Home in Bewdley, told staff that she wanted a “nice man” for her milestone birthday.

Laura Dourish, the Lifestyle and wellbeing leader at the nursing home, contacted the Buff Boyz Butlers company, which offers "handsome butlers for events."

She said: “When we asked her what she would like for her birthday, she came back with ‘I’d like a nice man.’

“We took that literally and thought that’s what we’ll get her.

“Her face literally lit up like a Christmas tree. She was really really excited. She thought it was so funny as well because we’d taken it so literally.

“We got him to bring in cake and give her a Baileys. She really enjoyed it".

Worcester News:

‘Buff butler’ Brandon previously visited the nursing home on Valentine’s Day this year to surprise residents with glasses of champagne and roses.

Winnie, who is originally from Essex, has two sons, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She celebrated her birthday, on November 20, with her family and staff at the care home.

Reacting to her ‘buff butler’ surprise party, she said: “That was very nice – I enjoyed that immensely.

“I had two birthday cakes – it was very nice”.

When Winnie turned 100 last year, she was one of the first to receive a birthday letter from King Charles III.

When asked what the secret to a long and happy life was, Winnie added: “A lot of it is luck.”

She added that it’s important to “keep going, be busy, eat properly and sleep properly”.
