A YELLOW weather warning for snow and ice has been issued for Worcester.

The Met Office has issued a weather warning for areas of the UK, including Worcester, of snow and ice this evening - moving into Sunday morning.

The adverse weather is expected to lead to disruption to transport and infrastructure.

Some roads and railways are likely to be affected by the weather, with longer journey times by road, bus and train services.

There are also expected to be some icy patches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, which could result in injuries from slips and falls.

Snowy, wintry weather can cause delays and make driving conditions dangerous. The Met office advises to keep yourself and others safe by planning your route, giving yourself extra time for your journey.

By not rushing reducing risks of accidents, slips, and falls.

It is important to check for road closures or delays to public transport, and to amend plans if necessary.

If you are driving, the Met Office advises to ensure you have some essential items in your car in the event of major delays, such as:

  • Warm clothing,
  • Food
  • Water
  • A blanket
  • A torch
  • Ice scraper/de icer
  • A warning triangle
  • High visibility vest
  • In-car phone charger
