A FLOOD warning remains on a village near Worcester while alerts are still in place on the county's rivers.

The Environment Agency (EA) said flood water could be deep and fast flowing which could pose a risk to life.

The flood warning area covers the river Severn at Court Meadow, Kempsey and Callow End.

River levels are currently high at the Kempsey Yacht Club river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall and are beginning to rise slowly again, said the Environment Agency.

The flood warning remains in place as flooding of property, roads and farmland continues today (Tuesday).

It said: "We expect flooding to affect Court Meadow Caravan Park.

"A predicted peak level of 5.9m to 6.1m is expected on this afternoon (Tuesday).

"Flood water could be deep and fast flowing, and therefore pose a risk to life.

"Further rainfall is forecast over the next 48 hours, and we are closely monitoring the situation. This warning may be re-issued if river levels begin rising again."

The EA's incident response staff are checking defences and liaising with emergency services as well as local authorities.

"Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded and move possessions and valuables off the ground or to safety," it said.

Flood alerts are also in place on the river Severn at Worcestershire, river Avon in Worcestershire and the Bow and Piddle Brook.

River Severn's levels are expected to peak in Worcester from 4.3m to 4.6m on Wednesday afternoon (December 13).

Levels have continued to rise at the Bewdley river gauge as a result of recent heavy rainfall.

Flooding is expected to affect low lying land and roads adjacent to the river from Highley to Tewkesbury.

Locations affected are Stourport, Holt Fleet, Worcester, Kempsey, Severn Stoke and Upton upon Severn.

The Severn is predicted to peak at Diglis between 4m and 4.2m on Wednesday afternoon, at Kempsey Yacht Club 6m to 6.2m on Wednesday afternoon and Saxons Lode in Upton-on-Severn between 4.7m and 4.9m on Wednesday evening.
