RESIDENTS have again been getting in the festive spirit by turning their homes into a winter wonderland.

Christmas trees, lights and decorations were up for many in November - but some have spread even more joy and cheer by decorating the outside of their homes for visitors.

Homeowners in Rushwick, Pershore, Kempsey and Worcester have all been taking part in the festive fun, some even raising money for good causes.

Mick and Norma Gale spend two days each year transforming their garden into an amazing winter wonderland for Santa's Garden at their home in Christine Avenue, Rushwick, near Worcester.

The property is adorned with 10,000 lights, giant inflatable Santas, snowmen and reindeer which tower over visitors who come from as far as America, Japan and Canada.

The Crimbo-mad pair have raised more than £31,000 for charity over the years.

Mr Gale said: "'I tend to go and buy decorations in the summer. They're all new but they can be cheaper when you buy them in the warmer months. We're good at making them last.

"It doesn't really matter how much it costs as it's for a good cause but we have managed to keep prices down I think with a bit of forward planning."

We have been told about other roads in the city and on the outskirts which also have incredible lights.

Lots of people have been wowed by the festive decorations at a home in Canterbury Road.

The front garden has been turned into a winter wonderland with illuminated decorations and lots of twinkling fairy lights.

Two homes in Kempsey have been brightening up the dark winter nights.

Lots of people visit St Mary's Close to see the lights while a home in Old Vicarage Close in the village is also a festive delight.

A bit further afield but well worth the journey is the Christmas light display at a home in Stourport which even has its own radio station.

People can drive past and tune their car radio into the station to watch a synchronised display at DY13 8NN.

The light display is free to attend with shows taking place every day from 5pm to 9pm.

There is also a sensory display with no music and gentle lights every Sunday from 5pm to 6pm.

People can make donations to Severn Valley Railway while visiting the lights.
