ONE flood alert remains in place in Worcestershire.

The Environment Agency said people should "be prepared" for flooding on the Bow and Piddle Brook.

It said the river levels are rising at the Besford Bridge river gauge, near Pershore, as a result of recent rainfall.

A spokesperson said: "We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent to the Brooks from Webheath to Defford.

"Other locations that may be affected include Crowle, Wickenham, Peopleton, Pinvin and Pershore.

"Local fords may also be flooded."

The agency warned that further showers are expected over the next 48 hours.

"We expect river levels to remain high in the coming days.

"We are closely monitoring the situation.

"Our incident response staff are liaising with Local Authorities.

"Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded."

An update is expected this evening at 6pm or as the situation changes.

A flood alert on the river Severn in Worcestershire was removed this morning (Wednesday).
