A CONCERNED resident fears a child will be knocked over by a lorry as drivers are parking up in a residential road instead of driving into a city industrial estate.

Derek French says he has had enough of lorries parking and blocking Dent Close, off Wyld's Lane, to unload before the entrance/exit to Three Springs Industrial Estate.

The 67-year-old said: "I have lived in Dent Close for 15 years and we have an industrial estate behind us.

"The estate has outgrown its size - in the last five years, it has become more of a problem.

"Delivery lorries don't even go into the industrial estate they unload in the street.

"The lorries turn round at the entrance of the Dent Close car park, reverse up the road and park up blocking the street.

"On one occasion a lorry parked directly in front of garages, so people couldn't get out.

Mr French said the traditional entrance and exit to the site had always been from Vincent Road but over time that had changed.

"It's beginning to get totally unacceptable," he said.

"They park up on the footpaths and are banging up and down the kerb with a small forklift.

"It is ridiculous, totally unacceptable.

"Families with kids live on this estate and use the road to cut through the industrial estate on their way to school - a child could be hit."

Mr French has been taking pictures of lorries parked up to highlight the issues.

He added he was the representative for the block of apartments in Dent Close and residents' complaints have been raised with the authorities.

It is unclear who runs the Three Spring Industrial Estate. We contacted KWB, which manages the site, but it did not provide us with the details of the owners.

A Worcestershire County Council spokesperson said: "There are already parking restrictions in place which can be enforced by Worcester City Council and police, where appropriate."

Lynn Denham, Worcestershire County councillor for Rainbow Hill, said she was working with other councillors in the area to look into the issues.

"This is a small industrial estate and both roads that go into it are narrow residential roads.

"I will investigate which businesses and deliveries are causing problems, to make sure they are more sensitive to their residential neighbours, and road safety in general."
