The festive spirit was alive as hundreds of families visited Father Christmas' Grotto in Droitwich this week.

The WANDS family hub welcomed children to enjoy some Christmas cheer on Wednesday afternoon (December 20).

The day was packed with entertainment, from being greeted by Frosty the Snowman and The Grinch and his elves to finally meeting Santa himself in his grotto.

While waiting to meet Santa, children had the opportunity to make their own reindeer food and colour in some festive images.

Once their good behaviour was reported to Santa, each child got to pick a toy and collect a family baking activity kit to take home with them.

The event, a collaborative effort by Starting Well South Worcestershire and Action for Children, was enabled by generous donations from the Platform Community Kindness Campaign, Salvation Army and Wahegru.

Gifts, books, family baking activities and craft packs were available not only for the children at the event but were also distributed to families living in Wychavon.

South Worcestershire community and parenting lead for the partnership, Ness Cole, said: "It was heart-warming to see the joy on the children’s faces as they met our resident Santa.

"And none of this would be possible without the kind support from local companies each year."

The partnership, led by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust and involving groups like Action for Children, Barnardo’s, and Redditch Borough Council assists parents, families, children and young people in Worcestershire.

The support network includes a range of teams from health visitors, specialist nursery nurses, breastfeeding guidance, school health nurses, care for children who require specific attention to 'parents to be' and their children during the early years and also as they move through school towards adulthood.
