The Hive will host a series of fantasy-themed events in the New Year.

Spanning across three months, from January to March, the events are promising to engage Worcester residents with exhibitions, workshops, talks, and screenings.

The 'Realms of Imagination' exhibition, commencing from Tuesday, January 30 until Sunday, February 25, aims to celebrate fantasy creators by presenting their creative concepts, such as how their lands, languages and creatures were created.

Wednesday, January 24 sees the venue host a Fantasy Quiz Night with the Living Knowledge Network from 6.30pm until 8.30pm.

The Weeping Bank Library will bring along its Tales After Dark session on Tuesday, January 30.

Renowned for its haunting candlelit performances of ghost stories, the event promises to provide unique experiences for readers.

University of Worcester scholars will offer talks around recent research on the fantasy genre, the modern cult classic 'Stranger Things', and an intriguing discourse between the magic and science of love.

The Fantasy Writers’ Day will take centre stage on Saturday, February 24, featuring talks from acclaimed author Justin Newland, authors Zen Cho, Anna Stephens and Stephen Aryan.

Fantasy writing workshops conducted by the creative writing team from the university are also a part of the programme.

Gee Cartmell, Hive events co-ordinator, said: "We have a whole host of events taking place in the New Year on the fantasy theme.

"There is something for everyone, from children to adults, exhibitions to academic talks.

"We also have some screening from the British Library, including an ‘in conversation’ between Susanna Clarke and Alan Moore, and a talk from Sir Ian Livingstone as Dungeons and Dragons turns 50."

Event details can be accessed and tickets booked via The Hive's official website at www.thehiveworcester.org.
