Budding festive cooks have been revealing their tips on getting through Christmas Day stress-free.

Worcester News readers weighed in with their personal advice on how to tackle the festive task on Facebook.

Carl Simpson commented: "It's a roast dinner. A roast dinner we all cook every weekend. Just with a maybe a different meat. There is no stress."

Both Will Randle and Patrick Tinton echoed him, with the earlier saying: "It's just a big Sunday lunch... know your timings and relax," and the later writing: "It's only a slightly larger Sunday lunch."

Preparing ahead of time was a common strategy, with Louise Griffiths writing: "Do it all the night before," with Hayley Sheppard concurring: "All the Prep Xmas Eve."

Marie Hembrow said: "I prep my veg on Christmas Eve, and we spread out the courses. First at lunchtime, main after Kings speech, and if we want the pudding, that’ll be much later in the evening".

Others revealed more unconventional coping methods.

The concept of ready-made meals was floated by Dawn Humphries, revealing her low-stress plan: "Ready made curry in the microwave and chips in the air fryer... easy Christmas dinner."

For those who are not keen on cooking, eating out on Christmas Day was a popular alternative.

Jordan Wilson and Iain Schoefield both suggested booking a table at a carvery.

Oso Oco commented: "Order from Cromwell's. Collect. Eat", with Graham Green and Paul Clark both echoing his sentiment to enjoy the festivities without the added stress of cooking.

Several users recommended an alcoholic drink to take the edge off, with Angela Clewer suggesting: "Prosecco for breakfast" while Maxine Pearmain prefers a "mulled wine".

Gemma Jeynes added: "I find that when I drink as I cook it relaxes me".

Whether it's preparing ahead or taking a more hands-off approach, it seems there are plenty of ways to keep the stress at bay come Christmas Day.

As Mel Collins wholesomely reminded everyone: "Whatever you have or whatever you do, Christmas is a very personal thing. Make it yours, there are no hard and fast rules. But mostly relax and enjoy."
