A CITY eBay user has made more than a few quid after selling a well sought after £2 coin.

They are among many people on the selling site trying to sell various coins for more than its face value.

The commemorative 25 Years of The £2 Two Pound Coin was released in 2022 and marks the milestone anniversary of the £2 coin.

A seller from Worcester sold the coin for £19.99 - over eight times its face value.

Not only that, but the seller also supplied a free three-day postage on the item.

The coin's condition was uncirculated and would come with its blue card.

On The Royal Mint website, a spokesperson said: "To mark the 25th anniversary of the bimetallic £2 coin and the iconic Bruce Rushin design, a new commemorative edition has been struck.

"Bearing the year 1997, the reverse of the coin once again depicts Bruce Rushin’s ‘technology’ design, with the incorporation of a special latent feature that reveals the number ‘25’ within the central cog.

"The obverse of the anniversary coin also pays tribute to Bruce Rushin’s contribution, featuring the addition of an ‘iron age’ privy mark to the bottom of the portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II."
