A NEW yellow weather warning for rain and wind in Worcestershire has been issued by the Met Office. 

The Met Office has warned the wind accompanied by rain which will be heavy in places is likely to cause disruption.

The warning for rain comes into force at 5pm today, (January 1), while the wind warning comes into force at 8am on Tuesday,  January 2.

The Met Office says both warnings are currently expected to be lifted at 9pm on Tuesday - unless they are extended. 

The rain warning says: "Heavy rain falling on saturated ground is likely to cause some travel disruption.

"Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer. Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer.

"Flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible."

The wind warning says: "A spell of very windy weather, accompanied by heavy rain in places, is likely to cause some travel disruption.

"Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely and damage to trees is possible.

"Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer. 

"Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely - Some short-term loss of power and other services is possible - It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves."
