STORM Henk has been officially named by the Met Office - and is making its presence known in Worcester.

It has been a very grey and wet start to 2024 in Worcestershire with two yellow weather warnings for rain and wind in place throughout today (Tuesday).

There looks like little likelihood of seeing any blue skies or sunshine with persistent rain forecast for most of the day.

#StormHenk has been named and is forecast to bring very strong winds and heavy rain to parts of southern Britain through the day today

Already, flooding has closed roads and car parks in Worcester with a flood warning in place on the river Severn through Worcester.

The Met Office said today the rain will probably turn persistent and occasionally heavy by early this afternoon and possibly continue for the rest of today.

Despite the continual rain the maximum temperature is predicted to reach 10C.

Tonight will be rather wet at first but becoming drier and less windy by midnight with clear spells, the Met Office said.

There is an increasing chance of showers during the early hours bit should stay frost free.

Wednesday is expected to be somewhat brighter than today with a mixture of cloud and sunny intervals.

However there will also be showers, said the Met Office, with some of these heavy at times and possibly merging into bands of rain.

However, it will be less windy with a maximum temperature of 8C.

Outlook for the rest of the week is potentially going to be mostly dry and bright on Thursday with isolated showers.

Often cloudy thereafter with the odd shower, but also some brighter periods, said the Met Office.

The temperature will turn a bit colder with patchy overnight frosts.
