AN entrepreneurial teenager has opened up his first-ever takeaway in the city centre and has big plans for its future.

Amir Shokoohi, 19, said he was excited to open his first eatery, The Lighthouse, in the former Lowesmoor Fish Bar.

He said he hopes the takeaway can continue the legacy of the Lowesmoor Fish Bar, but he hopes to add his own twist to the establishment.

He will do this with a special dish on the menu he claims is not available for takeaway anywhere else in the city.

The takeaway will still serve traditional fish and chips, pizza and burgers but will also provide other unique items like takeaway parmesan chicken, cake and ice cream.

"We are trying to fill the gap in the market, and I think we are providing food that cannot be found in Worcester, for example, takeaway parmesan chicken," said Mr Shokoohi.

"We have been busy since opening, and the reviews have been good - many people are in love with our parmesan chicken.

"One customer even said the food reminds them of home.

"It has been a fish and chip shop for ages and we are still going to continue the legacy of what it was but add our own twist."

Mr Shokoohi hopes to team up with Worcestershire charities as his business flourishes and wishes to reduce the business's waste by donating food to struggling families.

He hopes the leftover food can provide better comfort to those struggling to afford food than in a bin and said he is working on building connections to do this.

Mr Shokoohi is running Lighthouse with the help of his auntie and cousins, who will be working behind the counter.

Worcester News:

"Worcester is a very good city. I have lived all over the place and this is the best place I've been to so far.

"I was very nervous to open, but now everything is open. I am feeling fine."

According to the Food Standards Agency website, Lighthouse has received a five food hygiene rating after an inspection on January 9.

Lowesmoor Fish Bar, once run by 'Honky' Fletcher, closed and was boarded up in August 2022.
