Charities can now apply to be Worcester Music Festival's chosen cause this year.

Applications are open and will close on Saturday, February 10.

The three-day event raises money and awareness for a different community charity every year, and this year the festival will occur on September 13-15 in the city centre.

Last year, the multimedia festival raised a whopping £5,345.90 for The Myriad Centre, the chosen charity for the year.

Festival Director, Ant Robbins, revelled in last year's total, saying: "We had an amazing festival in 2023, raising the most amount of money over the weekend in the festival’s history.

"The Myriad Centre carries out vital work in the local area, providing specialist care for young people with serious disabilities and an emotional lifeline for their families.

"Having seen first-hand the impact this charity has on its service users, we are incredibly proud to have been able to support their ongoing work."

Em Branson, the festival's marketing director, said: "As we gear up for the 2024 Worcester Music Festival, we're searching for a cause that matters.

"Charities, this is your cue.

"We're all about supporting our community, and invite all charitable causes in Worcestershire to apply - your cause could be the one we rally behind this year."

To be considered, charities must provide an in-depth account of their services, who benefits, and if there's a special project that needs support.

Charities the festival has supported in the past includes the Worcester Community Trust, Worcester Foodbank, and Worcestershire Association of Carers.

The festival's success is owed to the donations made by the attending public, with over 20 venues featuring charity donation tins and costume-clad creative team members with donation buckets.

The festival, which started in 2008 with a small number of venues and artists, has become a notable event in Worcester's calendar.

Today the festival presents over 250 artists across 20 venues in the heart of the city.

The festival recognises both the area's music scene and the community, by promoting musicians while contributing to worthy causes.
