Visitors at The Commandery will get the chance to meet a plethora of historic characters when its hosts the return of Living History weekend.

The venue's biggest weekend of the year is back on Saturday 17 and Sunday, February 18, promising a two-day event featuring living history encampments, military displays, and characters from centuries past located throughout the building and gardens.

Subtitled 'From Twang to Bang', this year's event will include a new addition of historic firing demonstrations and cavalry displays by Worcester Reenactors in the gardens.

With medieval music and Tudor-style dancing in the medieval Great Hall and demonstrations from metalworkers and willow weavers, the weekend promises an immersion in various historical periods.

Organised in partnership with the Worcester Re-enactors, the event is a great chance to visit one of Worcester’s most notable historical buildings.

Helen Manning, events and activities coordinator at The Commandery, said: "It’s fantastic that Living History falls in the half-term holiday this year – we can’t wait to see lots of families at The Commandery enjoying all the history on display."

Visitors can also enjoy a variety of homemade cakes, toasties, and a wide array of drinks at the canal-side independent café, Commandery Coffee, which also provides vegan and gluten-free options.

Living History is open to all, with no booking required.

Regular entry admission applies to the event, but is free for those with a season pass or Worcester Residents’ pass to The Commandery.
