SCORES of protesters gathered in the city centre with placards in one hand and Palestinian flags waving in the other.

Worcester Palestine Solidarity Campaign gathered outside the Guildhall yesterday (Saturday) with homemade placards, flags and a speaker.

Jade Smith, chair of  Worcester Palestine Solidarity Campaign, said: "I think it is important to remind people that this hasn't been happening since October and it has been happening for decades.

"It is important to spread awareness, let people know about the brutality that is going on and help educate."

He said: "I am here today to show solidarity with the people of Gaza and what they are going through.

"The horrors continue regardless of any international rulings. They are still without food, without aid and without water, and hundreds are dying every day."

The protest follows the Hamas attacks on southern Israel on October 7 last year in which 1,300 people were killed and more than 240 kidnapped before Israel retaliated with months of attacks on the Gaza Strip, killing and wounding thousands.
