A FORMER court security guard changed his plea on the day of his trial admitting ABH at the last minute.

Luke Timms, of Stockton Road, Abberley, but formerly of Woodhouse Close, Worcester, had previously denied assault of a person thereby occasioning actual bodily harm.

Timms entered his guilty plea at Gloucester Crown Court on Thursday, (February 22), moments before a jury was due to be chosen for what was expected to be a two-day trial.

Timms assaulted Daniel O'Donnell on October 13, 2022, in Worcester.

Until that point Timms had always denied the charge during hearings at Worcester Magistrates Court and Worcester Crown Court.

Timms was given the choice and originally elected for a jury trial at the magistrates court hearing last March.

We reported last April a judge decided it would be "wholly inappropriate" for his trial to take place at Worcester Crown Court due to him previously having worked there as a security guard, with the case moving to Gloucester.

After his plea the Gloucester judge, Recorder James Bromige, told Timms a pre-sentence report would be necessary in his case.

The judge ordered he comply with the probation service when he is interviewed for the report.

Recorder Bromige told Timms, who is on conditional bail, he must attend the sentence hearing at the Gloucester Crown Court on April 10.
