A learning organisation has backed an upcoming penguin-themed art trail.

Worcester Learning Zone will sponsor a sculpture for the upcoming Waddle of Worcester.

The company, known for their tutoring and online learning support for children, young people, and adults, is celebrating its 10th year in 2024.

The art trail will be an early celebration, kickstarting from Monday, July 22 and will feature 80 artistically decorated penguins scattered throughout the city over eight weeks.

The event, hosted by St Richard’s Hospice and Wild in Art, is an invitation for Worcester residents to waddle along with the penguins.

Natasha Stolt, business director and co-owner of Worcester Learning Zone, said: "What better way to celebrate our tenth year than by joining the city’s penguin party this summer."

Carys Thurlby, co-owner and founder, added: "Taking a penguin under our wing in many ways reflects what we do with our students, all students are welcome at Worcester Learning Zone.

"We bring children and young people into our huddle to make learning enjoyable."

The hospice has extended the invitation to community businesses to sign up and sponsor a penguin.

Even with just under five months to go, the majority of penguin sculptures have sponsors, with just one still available.

Alongside the full-sized creatures, 40 smaller penguin chicks are also set to join the trail.

Nearby schools will design and decorate the chicks, which will be displayed across the city, including in Crowngate Shopping Centre.

At the end of the Waddle of Worcester, each large penguin will be auctioned, with proceeds set to go towards the ongoing care provided by the hospice.

Sara Matthews, business development manager for the hospice, said: "It’s fantastic to welcome Worcester Learning Zone to waddle with us.

"The team have recently selected the design they would like to see brought to life by a local artist and we can’t wait to see their penguin suit on parade in Worcester."
