Work has started on a £250,000 revamp of St Andrew’s Gardens in Worcester.

Large trees were being cut down earlier this week, just days after plans to redevelop the historic greenspace were approved by city councillors.

The scheme, which is being part-funded by a government grant, will see a new entrance built on the corner of Deansway and Copenhagen Street.

Wheelchair-friendly paths will also be created in the gardens, which contain the old St Andrew’s Church tower and its original tip, which will be moved as part of the works.
