A POPULAR free event that used to attract crowds from across Worcestershire will return after several years.

The well-attended event Fun on the Brum in Fernhill Heath will finally return this year after having a long break since the start of Covid.

Meg Farmer, chair of North Claines Parish Council, said the event is set to be better than ever, but not everything can be revealed yet as the day is still being organised.

The last Fun on the Brum happened before Covid-19 and, over the past few years since the pandemic, there has been a struggle to get enough organisers for the event.

But this year, Cllr Farmer and a group of volunteers hope to bring the return of the annual event.

"There will be something for all the family to enjoy, including lots of activities," said Cllr Farmer.

"It will be time to bring a picnic blanket and we will have stalls, activities, inflatables, a dog show, ice cream and much more.

"I am also hoping to do something for the children, like making a garden plate or something like that for them to bring and be judged.

"It will definitely be better than ever before, and the event is completely free for everyone."

There will also be a tombola and a raffle at the event.

Organisers are still working on what else will be at the event and asked those who are interested in getting a stall to contact an organiser through the Events on the Brum Facebook page.

Fun on the Brum will take place on Saturday, July 20 between 12pm and 4pm.

Fun on the Brum is one of many events which take place in Fernhill Heath.

One of the most notable events is Fernhill Heath's Scarecrow Trail, which was founded in 2017.

Using a 'route trail map' residents and visitors can tour the village looking at the different entries across the October half-term period.
