A NEW bistro and wine restaurant is to open on Evesham High street.

The new business will be called Felton's Bistro and Wine, and will replace the current café, Delicious, after being sold to Evesham residents Nicola Marsh and Tom Bignell.

Despite only getting the keys to the property a matter of days ago, the couple are keen to open as soon as possible, with no confirmed opening date as of yet, but Miss Marsh did say "roughly around April 18."

Miss Marsh said: "We have lived in Evesham for the past five years and we used to own a restaurant in Moreton in Marsh, called Yellow Brick Bistro.

"We have always said that Evesham needs a neighbourhood bistro, so we sold our restaurant in Moreton to focus on this.

"The name of our bistro came from the history of the building itself.

"We found a book about the history of Evesham's inns and in the 1850's it was called Felton's wine merchants and so that is where we got the name from."

The couple will have a hands on approach, with Mr Bignell continuing to be the chef just like he was in their previous restaurant.

The owners are more than happy to keep the same staff that worked in the café, but in the event that they choose not to continue, they will be looking to take people on.

Miss Marsh continued: "We are going to have an opening night, inviting friends and family as well as the mayor.

"We want to invite as many people as possible to see what we can do, but right now we are furiously painting and waiting for new furniture to arrive, so we are keeping the opening date loose.

"We can't wait to open, we are nervous but not as nervous as before when we opened our first restaurant.

"I'm just glad we had a chance to close, this couple of weeks has allowed us to make it exactly how we wanted it.

There will be enough room to sit 36 people inside the restaurant with a further 10 outside.
