AN "overlooked" cat described as having a flair for sport needs a new home and a play partner.
Honey has been at the Worcester Branch of Cats Protection for nearly two months and needs a home that matches her passion for playtime.
The two-year-old arrived at the branch after becoming significantly stressed in her old home because it was busy with a number of other animals.
The charity said the tabby is often overlooked by potential owners despite her passion for playtime.
Lorna Ingman, the branch’s administration volunteer, said: “Honey is not only a clever cat but strikingly beautiful too, with a friendly, gentle temperament to match.
“We know her previous home caused her significant stress because it was busy with a number of other animals, so a calm environment where she could be the only pet would suit her best.
"We think she could live with older, sensible children who would allow her to adjust at her own pace before she settles into all the fuss and playtime opportunities on offer.
"We can’t wait to see her in a new home where her sporty skills can go from strength to strength!”
Honey's favourite games include catching softballs and playing mice and toy fish between her paws, whether they are thrown towards her from height or a few feet away.
Daniel Warren-Cummings, central behaviour officer for Cats Protection, added: “Honey is a great example of how active and interactive cats can be.
"Cats are often considered to be distant, perhaps even boring or unlikely to interact with people, but that just isn’t the case.
"Once people find the right way to engage with a cat in their care, it can provide them, and the cat, with lots of entertainment.
“The Behaviour Team at Cats Protection urges owners to take play quite seriously and make sure they are providing lots of outlets for cats to play every day.
"It is an important form of stimulation that not only boosts cats’ feel-good hormones but will certainly raise a smile for owners, too.”
Honey’s curious, playful nature means a home with a garden away from busy roads would be ideal and bring her plenty of interest and opportunities to explore and keep her mind active.
Honey is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worm treatments.
Her new owners will also be offered four weeks of free pet insurance before taking her home.
