A CITY school’s administrator will walk a marathon to support victims of rape and sexual violence.

Nunnery Wood High School’s Christine Payton will do the distance around the city on Saturday by following the Wild About Worcester Way twice and a little extra.

Christine aims to raise as much as possible for West Mercia Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre which offers specialist support to the victims of rape and sexual violence.

Services are free, confidential, non-judgemental and available to survivors who have experienced any form of sexual violence at any time.

WMRSASC works with children and young people, aged between five and 18, who have been directly or indirectly impacted by sexual abuse. Branch project workers support those who have experienced child sexual exploitation (CSE) or are at risk of it.

They empower young people to understand grooming and exploitation online and offline.

Christine said: “We are so fortunate to have such a fantastic service in this area supporting adults, young people and children, however, WMRSASC is dependent upon fundraising and donations to continue to exist. Hence why I’m walking a marathon.”

Jocelyn Anderson, the centre’s CEO, said: “We would like to thank Christine for not only taking on the challenge of walking a marathon to support WMRSASC but also for highlighting the work that we do and raising much-needed funds to support our clients.

“WMRSASC is a specialist sexual violence support service that works with women, men and children aged five-plus who have experienced any form of rape, sexual violence, abuse, harassment or exploitation at any time during their lives. We provide a range of services including advocacy, early intervention and prevention services and long-term therapy.

“Working across both Worcestershire and Herefordshire, we are a community-based organisation and it means so much when members of the community like Christine are so generous with their time, effort and support.”
