Colchester's PDSA store has requested the community's help in donating unwanted clothes, shoes, books, and volunteering hours to benefit sick and injured pets.

The shop needs good quality items for reselling, including children's clothing, and men's and ladies' wear, to raise money for free and low-cost vet services.

PDSA assistant shop manager, Sam, said: "Perhaps your wardrobe is bulging with unworn clothes or your shelves are full of books you never read?

"Why not have a clear-out and donate your unwanted items to PDSA?

"As well as de-cluttering your home, you’ll be helping a very worthy cause at the same time."

Sam also called on residents to come forward and help in the store.

Sam said: "We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers who are passionate about pets and who can lend a hand.

“Volunteering for PDSA is fun and the skills you learn look great on any CV, plus you get to meet new people and make some friends along the way."

The shop on Long Wyre Street is one amongst many PDSA establishments raising funds for affordable treatment, often supporting those unable to cover the costs.
