A picture of St Andrew's Spire in Worcester had gone viral on photo sharing website, Flicker.

Amateur photographer Kevin Phillips from Whitbourne took the iconic picture after walking past and seeing the flowerbeds.

The photo was then uploaded to Flicker, where admins decided to share his work in the "explore" category for millions of users to see.

Mr Phillips said: "I am a member of many groups of many Flicker groups and I am in one where I have to post one picture everyday, and I have been doing this for three years.

"I was walking past the old fire station and saw the lovely flowerbeds and thought to myself that it looks like a nice photo.

"So I posed up, took the picture and posted in on the group.

"I thought the picture was striking but I didn't expect it to go viral.

"This is the second time it has happened but the first time was a picture of a flowerhead and I am not sure why that got picked."

Mr Phillips is a volunteer lockkeeper at the Diglis canal locks and as a result visits the city regularly.

Mr Phillips continued: "The photo is now available to millions of people and has had loads of likes, comments and shares.

"The gardeners did all the hard work though, I just took the photo."
