Get your walking boots on for a group stroll to celebrate a year since the launch of a 12-mile marked route around Worcester.

The Worcester Environmental Group is inviting all-comers to gather at Lyppard Hub at 10am on Sunday (May 12) to walk the ‘Wild about Worcester Way’.

After leaving the venue, the first waypoint is Worcester Woods Country Park.

The stroll will see a pause at Worcester Community Gardens for lunch at 1.15pm, before the adventure wraps up at The Lyppard Grange pub at 6pm.

Paul Snookes, one of the founders of the Worcester Environmental Group, said: "Over the past year, I have met so many people who have walked the Wild About Worcester Way and discovered areas of the city that they didn’t know about before.

"It’s so heartening to hear about how families have learnt more about the nature that is on our doorstep."

The route was opened in May 2023 following the work of volunteers to plan, prepare and mark the route.

It was launched in partnership with Worcester City Council, with the aim of encouraging residents to engage with the city's green spaces to aid their physical and mental health.

An additional benefit of the route is its function as a ‘wildlife corridor’, promoting an increase in biodiversity and environmental preservation.

The paths that make up the route feature posts of original artwork created by primary school children from across the city.
