THE FIRM which operates Worcester Foregate Street station has apologised for the impact on city commuters after both lifts broke down.

The Worcester News was contacted by concerned commuters who claimed the lifts were out of order from as early as last Thursday.

Worcester News: One woman travelling via Foregate Street said on Monday (May 20) she had to help another woman with her baby's pushchair get up the steps and onto the platform.

West Midlands Railway (WMR) operates Worcester Foregate Street.

A spokesperson for the firm said the lifts had been out of use recently due to a 'complex technical issue.'

The technical issue resulted in the lift emergency communication system failing.

WMR added its engineers had worked to fix the lift on platform one and were working to ensure the lift on platform two was back in service as soon as possible.

The spokesperson also apologised for any inconvenience caused to passengers during the time the Foregate Street lifts had been out of use.
