A BRAND new restaurant serving up classic Italian dishes will be opening this Bank Holiday.

Pasta Di Piazza on Broad Street opens for the first time on Monday (May 27), with owners expecting a busy day.

The new restaurant has a "versatile" menu, offering pizzas, pasta, meat, fish and vegetarian dishes.

The site of the new business was last used by café Patisserie Valerie until 2019 and then the RSPCA as a charity shop before suddenly closing in April last year.

Business owner Gaz Cani says he is confident that his new venture will be a success.

The restaurant was originally slated to open on April 22, however, delays in the delivery of equipment meant the opening date had been pushed back.

Mr Cani, from Birmingham, has a sister restaurant in Acocks Green, which he has been operating for the past nine years.
