A FREE family friendly bike ride will take place next weekend - with riders ending up at a huge community picnic event.

The next Kidical Mass bike ride will take place at 11.30am. on Sunday, June 2 starting from Cafe Viaduct by Little Al’s Kitchen, on the riverside opposite the Hive, and finishing at Diglis Playing Fields as part of the Friends of Diglis Big Lunch Community Picnic event.

The popular, all inclusive bike ride, is designed for all ages and abilities, enabling families with children to cycle, wheel or scoot safely, even on a balance bike, with stabilisers or sitting in a child seat, in trailers or cargo bikes - everyone is welcome.

Katie and Rob Collier, organisers of Kidical Mass, working in partnership with Bike Worcester, said: ‘We've been organising Kidical Mass bike rides in Worcester for nearly two years, always starting from Cafe Viaduct and heading out to different locations to involve our local communities.

"Families especially love the chance to practice riding safely together and the organised games at the end.

"It’s such a sociable and fun way to spend time together on a community bike ride. We’re expecting a record turnout this weekend, as part of the Diglis Community picnic."

Friends of Diglis playing fields are organising the Diglis Big Lunch Community Picnic event and invite you to bring your own picnic or treat yourself to pizza from Cafe Afloat's new Pizza van.

There will be music from Worcestershire Winds, team games from Healthy Communities Worcester, bike skills challenges and mini races from Worcester St John's Cycling Club, a Worcester Craftivist tent and the Free Play Federation's #CardboardCitizensAssembly.

A full afternoon of entertainment will take place 12pm-5pm including information stalls, tombola, raffle and a chance to show off baking skills at The Great Diglis Bake Off as well as Diglis Hub with an update about the planned community space.

Sarah Colloby from Friends of Diglis Fields said ‘Diglis loves coming together as a community to have fun on our fantastic open space. We're looking forward to welcoming everyone to the Big Lunch Picnic.’
