A Worcester man has opened his own store in the city centre.

Nick Munn, a designer and craftsman, has recently launched a workshop under the business moniker Black Pear Bespoke, a nod to the city's coat of arms.

He aims to inspire residents and out-of-towners with a range of unique furniture designs.

His collection, which is steadily growing, includes tables, cabinets, and more - all made to order.

He also accepts custom commissions, creating anything from coffee tables, and desks to a fully handcrafted kitchen.

One of his standout services includes eye-catching brass inlays adorned onto his furniture, etched to the customer's wishes with bespoke designs such as maps or family names.

Apart from his workshop, Mr Munn will be showcasing his technique at Handmade Oxford, the International Contemporary Crafts Festival at Waterperry Gardens, Oxford from June 21 to June 23.

He began his career after earning an industrial design degree from Loughborough University and studying furniture design at Rycotewood College in Oxfordshire.

He's worked with some of the best interior design companies, handling custom-made projects in the UK and internationally, including luxury spas and hotels to ski chalets, period home refurbishments, and even a palace in the Middle East.

In regards to his venture, Mr Munn said: "After more than 20 years in the industry, I am now returning to my roots to create bespoke furniture in the city I have lived in for the past 18 years.

"Quality is at the heart of everything I make, that and of course good design.

"I am inspired by beautiful, sustainable materials used simply: oak, ash, and walnut teamed with brass and steel.

"It’s a process I love and I’m aiming to inspire potential customers with the same vision."
