A Worcester school has been given the all-clear to deal with tree branches that residents are concerned could fall on someone.
RGS Worcester had applied to the city council to chop down one tree and cut back several others.
It has now been given permission to fell the Robinia tree at RGS Springfield, its nursery and prep school in Britannia Square.
It will also be carrying out work on a number of other trees - removing deadwood and hanging branches on some, reducing the height of others and cutting back some that hang over the road.
Neighbours had written to the council in support of the application.
Lindsay Read said: “My car has been damaged by falling branches during high winds. The tree now overhangs our garden which blocks our sunlight getting to the area.
“I also feel somebody could get injured due to falling branches.”
Carol Inman said Britannia Square Residents Association supported the application and the “regular management of trees within the school site”.
“This proposal is particularly timely and welcome as currently a number of tree branches hang over the roads of the square leading to many residents being concerned about the risk that falling branches may damage parked cars or, more seriously, inflict injury on pedestrians or cyclists.”
