Asbestos tiles can be removed from the roof of a listed building in the city centre.
Planning approval was granted two years ago to convert International House in Pierpoint Street into a block of 15 apartments.
But the state of the roof has since deteriorated and it has been discovered that the building’s original slate tiles have at some point been replaced with asbestos-based fibre cement slates.
Worcester City Council has now granted listed building consent so developers can replace the asbestos-based tiles with non asbestos-based versions.
