THERE should be no planned unlawful activity in Worcester this weekend, according to police.
Police have moved to reassure people after the peaceful protest in Worcester today (Saturday, August 10), as well as similar demonstrations in Hereford and Shrewsbury, safely concluded without incident.
Chief Superintendent Edd Williams has said there remains no confirmed intelligence of any planned unlawful activity for the rest of the weekend.
Police had a visible presence at today's peaceful protest and there was no disorder, no one injured and no arrests were made.
This follows a week of riots across the country and rumours of a far-right protest in Worcester yesterday afternoon, which ended up not taking place.
Around 60 people gathered in Worcester City Centre earlier today, about 15 people in Hereford City Centre and approximately 240 people across two groups in Shrewsbury Town Centre.
Chief Superintendent Edd Williams, said: “We can confirm that despite some chanting the gatherings in Hereford, Shrewsbury and Worcester have now concluded without incident.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the local communities for their understanding and cooperation today.
“Officers have been engaging with local communities throughout the week and will continue to do so over the weekend.
"There remains no confirmed intelligence of any planned unlawful activity for the remainder of the weekend, but we remain prepared and to take swift and decisive action should we need to.”
