Concerns have been raised over plans to build 40 new homes on a "dangerous" road in a Worcestershire village.

The plans would use mostly brownfield land on Court End Farm on Plough Road in Tibberton, however residents have raised concerns over safety after the planned entrance to the site was put on a bend "where accidents already happen".

Submitted last week, the plans have also been criticised by residents who claim that the village lacks the infrastructure to sustain the homes.

The plans would see the demolition of one house which which would be replaced by 40 new homes, all of which would be allocated for social housing.

One neighbour, Abigail OBrien, said: "As a resident of Tibberton we have real concerns about any large development in the village like the 40 houses proposed.

"The services to the village such as sewage, transport and speed of traffic already cause problems for residents.

"Also the proposed access road to the development would be on a winding road where accidents already happen.

"This road gets very busy as it is used as a cut-through between Droitwich and Worcester."

The plans, which have been submitted to Wychavon District Council, would see four flats and 36 houses built on the land alongside a large amount of "public open space".

Peter Grimwood, another resident of Tibberton, said: "I am not opposed to residential development on this unattractive brownfield site.

"However, I object to this planning application on the grounds of scale, residential mix and damage to the existing biodiversity of the site.

"The proposed access to Plough Road is on a busy corner, is dangerous, and a smaller development would significantly reduce the traffic moving to and from the site.

"Whilst I am always supportive of social/affordable housing as a percentage of a residential planning application, I do not believe that 100% social housing on this site is a sustainable proposition.

"There is also clear evidence that a mix of private and social/affordable housing on a site results in sustainable local communities with no stigma attached to the site.

"This proposal for a large estate of social housing is out of proportion to the existing balance between private and social housing in the village."
