REPORTS of an "unexploded bomb" ended up being a false alarm after someone found a device while "clearing out a garage".
A quiet residential street in Hallow had a 100-metre cordon in place and residents evacuated from their homes after a device was found at a house.
Neighbours said the device was a Second World War grenade, which was found on Heath Close after someone was clearing out a garage.
A bomb disposal team cleared the road, evacuating properties and then assessed if the device was live.
One neighbour said nothing like this had ever happened in the street, and Hallow is known for being a "quiet little village."
A person living nearby said some of the police officers were just leaving the scene after being in Heath Close from about 3.30pm.
"I live around there and when it all started I was coming home and it was already happening.
"Police were not letting us go down the road and we had to park far away.
"We all had to stay 100 metres away and they evacuated people out of their homes.
"There were lots of people standing around watching.
"Nothing like this has happened here before. It's quite quiet around here.
"There was a woman cleaning out their garage and she found it.
Other neighbours confirmed they were told to stand away from the road but were reassured that it was nothing to worry about.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We were called to Heath Close in Hallow shortly before 2.15pm this afternoon following the discovery of an unexploded ordnance.
"A 100m cordon has been put in place as a precaution.
"Experts from Explosive Ordnance Disposal were on scene assessing the device.
"Explosive Ordnance Disposal found that the device wasn’t viable and so the cordon and road closures have now been lifted."
The cordon in Heath Close was lifted at around 4pm.
