A WORCESTER man who committed criminal offences while in breach of a deportation order has been jailed.
Redion Balla, of no fixed abode, assaulted and obstructed a police officer as well as committed two driving offences while in the country illegally.
The 30-year-old was jailed for four months at Norwich Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, August 14.
Magistrates said they had to give a custodial sentence because the defendant is in the country illegally so no community options would be appropriate and the offences were so serious.
He must also pay £154 for assaulting the police officer in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, but will not have to pay any other court costs as he must "focus his limited means on compensation".
His guilty plea was taken into account and he was not given a separate penalty for obstructing the officer.
Balla also pleaded guilty to driving a BMW otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without third party insurance on Tuesday, August 13.
He was given six penalty points for driving without insurance but no separate penalty for the other driving offence.
His guilty pleas for the five offences were taken into consideration by magistrates.
