The UK's first amateur orchestra to perform entirely original music for film, TV and video games is set to make its return to Worcester.
The Film Orchestra, first launched in 2013, will base itself at Nunnery Wood High School, having formerly been situated in Malvern following the closure of its original base at St Mary's, Battenhall School.
The orchestra not only has a 70-piece symphony, led by principal conductor David Curtis, but also introduced community orchestras, chamber ensembles, and a choir.
TfO plans to bring two community orchestras, TfO Hereford & Worcester and TfO Children's Orchestra, to rehearse at Nunnery Wood for the first time.
Run by music teacher and oboist Lee Clarke-Butler, the Children’s Orchestra caters for young musicians with monthly sessions introducing them to iconic film and TV music in monthly Sunday rehearsals.
The TfO Hereford and Worcester, conducted by Michael Sosinski, will welcome musicians of any age, encouraging those returning to orchestral music to join.
Their current repertoire comprises of music from popular films such as Harry Potter and Aladdin.
The orchestra invites interested musicians to visit its website (www.thefilmorchestra.com) with rehearsals starting on Sunday (September 8).
