A theatre company fresh off an Edinburgh Fringe run is set to bring its musical comedy adaptation of a classic novel to Worcester.
Lamphouse Theatre, the creative team behind the popular show War of the Worlds (On a Budget), is set to present its new production Frankenstein (On a Budget).
The one-man musical-comedy is a tribute to Hammer horror.
The show parodies the original Boris Karloff films and the iconic Rocky Horror Show, all the while honoring Mary Shelley’s original story.
The production features a vibrant soundtrack, eye-catching backdrops, an array of weather-related puns, cardboard props, and lots of hats.
Producer Becky Owen-Fisher said: "Frankenstein (On a Budget) is the perfect follow up On a Budget show, created by the same team that made War of the Worlds (On a Budget) in 2022.
"We’re back with a bang.
"Expect electrifyingly bad effects, cardboard chaos and a terrifyingly tenuous link to the Hammer horror films of the 30s.
"With a monstrously good soundtrack, a mountainous backdrop and one man trying to play all the parts, it’s a must see."
The music is composed by Rebecca Applin, directed by Mercè Ribot and musically directed by Sam Sommerfeld.
The show received rave reviews from its Edinburgh Fringe run.
Comedian Dara Ó Briain praised it as "A small gem".
Musical Talk said: "So funny. So clever. So good."
"A comedic triumph", Theatre Scotland said, while One4Review credits the show's "delightful wit".
The adaptation will be at Swan Theatre on September 11
Witness this exciting adaptation on Wednesday, September 11, at 7.30pm.
Tickets are priced at £15.50.
