REPAIRS to a railway bridge are on schedule ahead of re-opening this weekend.
Newtown Road railway bridge in Worcester has been undergoing repairs forcing Worcestershire County Council to close the road on Monday, September 2 after safety fears.
The tunnel under the bridge was shut immediately while the pedestrian footway has been closed since Tuesday, September 3 with diversions in place.
The road closure is set to be lifted on Saturday (September 14).
Worcestershire County Council Highways and Travel said: "We've been advised by Network Rail that repair works to Newtown Road railway bridge in Worcester are due to be completed on schedule and they are aiming to remove the road closure at 6am on Saturday September 14."
According to the Worcestershire Roadworks website, the initial closure was put in place for emergency works required to attend to the rotten timber section of the bridge.
