THE history books may need a rewrite after it was revealed a Worcestershire pub will take on the challenge of making the longest bratwurst in the Midlands.
Customers of The Castle in Droitwich will be able to taste history as the pub will make a 12.12 metre-long bratwurst to mark Oktoberfest.
The length will pay tribute to the distance it takes to get from the pub on Worcester Road to Theresienwiese Munich - the home of Oktoberfest, which is 1,212km away.
Complete with curry ketchup and crispy onions, the giant creation will then be served up for free to lucky locals.
The Castle will also launch an Oktoberfest menu, have live music, host stein-holding competitions and traditional pretzel tossing in its Bier Tent on Saturday 21.
Festivities will kick start at 2pm with a live Oompah band, German beer and delicious new dishes.
The event will be free to attend and the pubs Oktoberfest menu will be in place until October 31.
Rebecca Hall, General Manager at The Castle, commented: “We can’t wait to celebrate Oktoberfest at The Castle and make history by creating the longest bratwurst the Midlands has ever seen!
"It will be a big challenge to create, but we can’t wait to see the final result.
"With a live Oompah band, there is no need to travel to Munich - we have it all happening in Droitwich Spa!
"If you miss the event on October 31, you can still get a taste of celebrations by ordering authentic German dishes from our Oktoberfest menu throughout October.”
The new menu will feature bratwurst, schnitzel, and steins of Bavarian beer.
Traditional dress is also welcome for those more enthusiastic Oktoberfest fans, with a free drink up for grabs with every costume.
The giant bratwurst reveal will take place at 3pm on the day.
Attendees are recommended to arrive early to ensure they secure their spot and the chance to taste Midland's largest-ever bratwurst.
