DRIVERS are frustrated after being met with a closure on a main road in Worcestershire.
Severn Trent closed part of Salt Way on the outskirts of Droitwich which has caused issues for those travelling to and from Hanbury and neighbouring areas.
Many drivers took to social media to voice their frustration and claim that proper diversion routes were not in place.
Other drivers shared how they did not know of the closure and were surprised to be met with roadworks.
Severn Trent confirmed that road closure warning signs are in place but admitted that the diversion route changed due to increased congestion.
Dean Smith, Developer Services Operations Lead at Severn Trent, said: “We have a team on site installing a new water connection on Salt Way.
"Due to the location of the works and to keep everyone safe, a road closure and diversion were put in place.
"We discovered that the original diversion route was causing some congestion, so worked up an alternative, and have coordinated all diversions and signage locations with the local Highways Authority.
“The connection works are completed and so we’ll be reinstating the road surface and getting everything back to normal as quickly as we can.
"We’d like to apologise for any inconvenience and thank everyone for their patience while we completed this work”.
The road closure started yesterday (Tuesday) and is in place today (Wednesday).
It has been in place between 9am and 5pm while a new water connection is installed outside the pub Eagle and Sun.
A spokesperson for Eagle and Sun said the closure had not significantly affected its pub and the works may have already finished.
Work is expected to finish on Salt Way tomorrow at 5pm.
