EMERGENCY services were called to Worcester Bridge following a report of someone in the River Severn earlier this evening.
A thorough search was carried out following the reports, however, it since materialised no one had entered the river.
A Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson has confirmed to the Worcester News the person originally thought to be in the river was later found to be safe and well.
Fire crews got the call to go to the Worcester Bridge at just before 7pm this evening (Saturday, September 28).
Fire crews and police arrived at the bridge near New Road.
Traffic was temporarily down to one lane on both sides of the bridge.
People with torches were also seen walking on the St John’s side of the river.
A Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were called to Worcester Bridge at 6.58pm after a report of someone in the river.
“A thorough search was carried out however it has since materialised there was no one in the river.
“The person originally thought to be in the river was later found to be safe and well.”
