TWO POPULAR attractions in Worcestershire have been named among the Best in Britain.
72 English attractions were given an award from VisitEngland to celebrate their excellence.
Five categories were on offer: Welcome, Quality Food and Drink, Hidden Gem, Best Told Story, and the Gold award for overall experience.
Hartlebury Castle, near Kidderminster, received the award for Best Told Story.
The castle, which was home to the Bishops of Worcester from 855AD until 2007, offers visitors the chance to witness the lives of the people who lived and worked at the manor for over 1,000 years, experience the county's history at the museum and explore the large grounds on which the castle was founded.
In a statement, Steve Bagnall, director of Hartlebury Castle Trust, and Rachel Robinson, museum manager for Museums Worcestershire, said: "We are delighted to once again receive the Best Told Story Accolade for Hartlebury Castle.
"It is a wonderful recognition of our staff and volunteers' continued hard work to share our fascinating heritage and ensure that visitors experience a fantastic day out."

The Commandery, in Sidbury, Worcester, was praised for its welcoming environment.
Famously known as the headquarters of royalist forces during the Battle of Worcester at the end of the English Civil War, the Commandery now pays homage to its long and storied history as a museum.
The building also regularly hosts events and activities for all.
Andrew Stoke, director of VisitEngland, said: "These accolades highlight the wonderful visitor experiences provided by English attractions, from the warmest of welcomes to amazing food and drink, and from great storytelling to outstanding customer service.
"Our tourism businesses are the bedrock of our industry and it is wonderful to highlight and celebrate the fantastic service and experiences they give visitors time after time."
