YOUNG adults across Worcestershire can enrol in a new learning programme.

Worcestershire County Council's Young Adult Learning programme offers 16 to 19-year-olds, and those up to 24 with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), an alternative to mainstream college or sixth form.

The programme is designed for those who want to succeed in a more informal and supportive environment.

Operating from Warndon in Worcester and Church Hill in Redditch, the programme offers personalised study programmes, traineeships, and supported internships.

These are aimed at helping learners gain confidence, qualifications, and experience to prepare them for further education or employment.

Kelly Champion, manager of the programme, said: "This September we’re offering an inclusive alternative for those learners who feel like a big college setting isn’t quite right for them.

"After high school, we offer a fresh start for learners who are ready to focus, to achieve, and want to succeed, with an emphasis on wellbeing and offering a curriculum that works for them."

The programme offers flexible learning, giving young adults more control over what, when, and how they learn.

Ms Champion added: "This personalised approach is exactly what some learners need to stay motivated and make progress towards their goals.

"At Young Adult Learning Worcestershire, we like to say we’re not college, we’re not sixth form, we’re just the right fit."

The study programmes are classroom-based and designed around an individual learner’s previous qualifications and goals.

Traineeships combine education with extended work experience placements to support those aiming to move into apprenticeships or jobs.

The programme also offers 12-month supported internships for young people with an EHCP who are ready to step into the workplace with some additional support.
