Afton McKeith, a former girlfriend of Brooklyn Beckham and the daughter of TV personality Gillian McKeith, has spoken publicly about their brief relationship.

Ms McKeith appeared on ITV News ahead of a Tonight programme.

She claimed paparazzi appeared to know detailed information about Brooklyn's daily schedule during their time together in 2017.

Ms McKeith said: "I could see that he would get visibly distressed and anxious.

"I do know that there were paparazzi every single, like, pretty much every day.

"And somebody would've been organising that, who knew his schedule inside out because it's not like random."

When asked who might have been tipping off the press, Ms McKeith declined to name anyone but said: "I won't say who I think it was, but I have an idea in my mind.

"I'm not going to implicate anybody."

She dismissed the possibility that it was anyone from their school and suggested it was someone with detailed knowledge of his routines.

When ITV News presenter Nina Nannar asked if she meant his parents, Ms McKeith declined to comment further.

She also supported Brooklyn's recent decision to speak publicly about his experiences.

Ms McKeith said: "I think that Brooklyn made the right decision in coming out with a statement, because after many years, of what I think is a false narrative about Brooklyn and Nicola portrayed in the press publicly, it can become overwhelming and stressful to have an inaccurate narrative of yourself put out in the press constantly.

"And so, it became too much for him.

"I think doing the best for your children is protecting your children.

"And putting your children in the public eye is very exposing."

The Tonight episode, produced by ITV News, being shown tomorrow night at 7.30pm on ITV1, features exclusive interviews with those who have known Brooklyn since childhood, as well as leading showbusiness journalists, agents, PR experts and commentators.

ITV News approached the Beckham's representatives for comment but have yet to receive a response.
