A SWAN has been attacked by a dog, despite the owner trying to pull it off in Diglis.

The alleged attack took place on Wednesday (June 17), with the dog seizing the swan by the neck.

Volunteers at The Swan Food Project say the swan is a father of two and managed to escape to the water following the attack.

A Swan Food Project spokesperson said: "On Wednesday, a dog seized this swan by the neck, pulling him to the ground and dragging him along as the owner tried to pull him off.

"The father of two escaped into the water and seems uninjured.

"He is being monitored, as parents can't be removed from their cygnets without a very good reason.

"Please be good pals and keep your dog under close control around the inner and outer basins of Diglis Marina."
