By the time you read this I should be back in good old Blighty, but why is it a two-week holiday goes quicker than any other two weeks of the year?
I must say I have enjoyed the south of France, and there are many things about the French way of life I enjoy. But would you want to live here? What are the fors and againsts?
For: Better roads, better licensing hours, fantastic fresh bread, superb weather, even this late in the year.
Reports that the French government are suggesting a reduction in the 35-hour working week, every little town and village has super sporting facilities, and a general laid back way of life.
Against; No cricket, no fish and chips, no taking Wolfie for walks up the Malverns, no Saturdays at Sixways, no proper milk, how I long for a proper cup of tea, no cricket, no roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, no proper toilets in sports grounds, no cold Monday nights down St George’s Lane, and no cricket.
We went to Monaco this week, just to see if my boat was still safe in the harbour. Blimey its posh there, bit like Battenhall Road, but with lots of water around.
The irony of it was the traffic is shocking in Monte Carlo and it took us an hour to get in and another hour to get out, and part of it was on the Formula One Grand Prix track as well.
Brilliant news from home about the county winning the Pro 40 although it was not headline news in the French sporting press. But not such a good start for the Warriors, but Wasps are at Sixways tomorrow, so should be a good one.
Talking of rugby, we really enjoyed going to see Italy and Romania the other day, and all the French were supporting the Romanians who almost pulled off a shock win. All good stuff.
I’m going to end now as we have a plane to catch, and I’m typing this in a French internet cafe where the keyboards are not quite the same as in UK, and I am a poor typer anyway.
